Generally, it is best to wait up to 3-5 days to allow swelling to subside. If symptoms or pain are unbearable than the faster you see a physiotherapist, the faster you will get answers (diagnosis) and pain relief!
Don’t forget that many injuries you cannot ‘wait out’ and may require professional intervention. A typical scenario would be spasmodic back pain where people will feel improvement over a 2 week period and then experience another spasm rendering them unable to move again.
Seeing your physiotherapist is crucial in stopping perpetual pain, identifying any underlying causes or risks and most importantly mapping out a clear treatment plan to prevent the injury from ever happening again!

Massage therapists specialise in hands on techniques and are fantastic for relieving feelings of tightness, stiffness, discomfort and low levels of pain.

All health funds pay different amounts depending on the level of your private health extras cover. If you have no ‘extras cover’ you will receive no money back from your health fund for allied health services.
You can check by downloading your insurance companies phone application or calling them. Either of these methods will clarify the amount that your private health insurance company will pay per visit to your planned health professional.
